About Me
I’m excited to introduce myself as a certified teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), currently completing my Additional Qualification (ABQ) in Senior Law (expected completion: March 2025) and my Intermediate Health and Physical Education ABQ (expected completion: May 2025). I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program, with a focus on Comprehensive School Health Cohort from the University of Ottawa.
My educational background is diverse and includes Child Development and Early Childhood Education, as well as an Honours degree in Social Sciences (B.Soc.Sc.), majoring in Criminology with a minor in Law, and a Bachelor of Education degree, both from the University of Ottawa. I am also one course away from earning my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and plan to pursue a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.), focusing on Strengths-Based and Inclusive Education for Students with Invisible Disabilities post-B.Ed.
Holistic Health & Fitness
In addition to my academic background, I am a Les Mills certified group fitness instructor specializing in BodyCombat and RPM. I am also currently participating in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program, which will certify me to teach yoga classes and allow me to register through the Yoga Alliance. My certifications and ongoing training in fitness and yoga underscore my commitment to promoting holistic well-being and physical health, which I believe are essential components of a balanced, healthy educational experience.
Experience in Mental Health and Support Services
I bring with me a wealth of experience in mental health support, particularly in areas such as sexual assault crisis lines, family and partner violence, and building self-esteem and assertiveness. I have worked with individuals facing a range of mental health challenges and have provided services to support those in need. This experience has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the importance of inclusive education—particularly for students with invisible disabilities, mental health challenges, and those from marginalized backgrounds.
Passion for Social Justice and Emotional Health
My interests in filmmaking, writing, social justice, and emotional health fuel my passion for creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students. I believe that education should not only impart knowledge but also help students grow emotionally, socially, and physically, and that every student deserves to feel valued, understood, and empowered.
A Unique Perspective in Education
I bring a unique perspective to the field of education, informed by my academic background, my work in support services, and my passion for health and fitness. My experiences—both personal and professional—shape my approach to teaching, particularly in the areas of inclusive education, student well-being, and emotional resilience. I am committed to helping every student thrive in an environment that embraces their strengths and supports their challenges.
Thank you for visiting my website. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside my students and contributing to an inclusive and supportive educational community.
